The TOCOWO project aims to scan as broad a selection of wooden objects from the collection of the Royal Museum for Central Africa as possible. The museum’s collection houses over 120.000 ethnographic objects; 47% of which contain wooden elements or are completely made of wood. Among the large variety of objects present in the collection, are sculptures, masks, musical instruments, objects of use (such as tools, furniture, etc.) and power-associated objects. TOCOWO project tries to cover the typological and geographical diversity of the scanned database.
